BRIEF HISTORY:
The Department of Geography is started in this to cater the needs of higher education, as a minor subject for Arts faculty in the year 1984.In the year 1990 with introduction of three equal subjects, Geography became one of the main optional subject. In the year 2005 with introduction of semester system in Geography at UG level it became core subject. The course materials are designed by “BOS” Karnatak University Dharwad.The department has qualified competent and well experencied teaching and non teaching faculty with well equiped laboratory.
The department has excellent academic result as 7 students secured ranks and 5 students secured Gold Medal.Sri B.G.Tallalli obtained Dr D.C.Pawate best N.S.S.Programme Officer award to the Karnatak University Dharwad. Sri M.B.Goudar has contributed 25 books in Geography subject.Among these, 8 books are recommended as refernce books by P.U.Board Bangalore,Karnatak University Dharwad and Karnataka Women’s University Bijapur.Many books are oriented to U.P.S.C and K.P.S.C Competative examination.Our department staff members are actively paticipated in different actvities like- resource peresons,guest lecturers and also presented the paper at Inter-National, National and State level UGC Sponserd seminors.
To fulfill students practical knowledge by studying and observing in their Natural habit, department has conducted study tour, field work every year and also visits to concern departments and Industries.
