BRIEF HISTORY:
To promote the higher education and to fulfill the needs of the people of Gadag and rural places the management of Kanakadasa Shikshana Samiti introduced Science facility with physics and electronics in 1991. Along with Physics and Electronics mathematics as co-ordination subject. The first batch had a total strength of 19 students Shri. S. S. Raikar and Shri K. S. Ganiger were appointed as a lecturers in 1991. In 1993 Shri C. S. Kulakarni and Smt V.S Chigaraddi where appointed as lecturers. Shri S. S. Raikar was made head of the department. Shri K. S. Ganiger and Smt. V. S. chigaraddi were appointed as lecturer in other institution hence they were relived. And Shri. C. S. Kulakarni was died. Hence Smt. J. S Arahunasi is appointed as full time lecturer.
The department is equipped with modern equipment to carry out practical at B.Sc level. Management support and financial assistance made the department to develop excellent department. Management has an ambitions to make Physics and Electronics department as one of the model department in the Karnataka University, Dharwad. To achieve this ambitions the department is organized with modern equipments and demonstration kits.
